Social Login Issues

Modified on Wed, 10 Jul, 2024 at 3:21 PM

When linking events or shop pages in social media apps (such as Facebook, X, Instagram or Linkedin) that use in-app browsers to display the linked content, social logins may not work.

This issue is most prevalent with Google Social logins, as Google prevent this type of login through their platform in this manner due to security concerns. This action will result in a message from Google of "403: disallowed_useragent".

To mitigate this, when posting any event or shop link to a social media platform, adding the following to the end of the URL "?appView=1" is recommended.

Resulting in a URL that looks like the below examples:

Direct shop link - https://xeventvenue.nuwebgroup.com/?appView=1

OR

Direct event link - https://xeventvenue.nuwebgroup.com/events/60366?appView=1

If an access code is in use, a slight variation of the app view property must be used, which is "&appView=1"

Resulting in a URL that looks like the example below:

Access code link - https://xeventvenue.nuwebgroup.com/events/60366?access_code=access-code&appView=1

When adding the app view property to the end of the URL, the social login options will be disabled when accessing the event via social media in-app browsers.
