Gift Vouchers

Gift vouchers are a sale item in the platform that allows event organisers to create various vouchers at different price points. 


Customers can purchase gift vouchers from a default page in the shop and add them to their account balance, or share them with friends and loved ones as a contribution to their next purchase.



How to configure Gift Vouchers


To create Gift Vouchers, you first need to ensure the feature is enabled for your company in admin.


If you do not have the option to create gift vouchers, please reach out to your customer success executive to action this.


Important Note: To enable gift vouchers, the following features need to be enabled too:

  • Cashless and eWallets
  • Online Account balances
  • Split Payments


How to Create a Gift Voucher


To configure a Gift Voucher in the platform, please do the following:


1. In the left-hand menu, click "Ecommerce > Gift vouchers"


2. In the top right-hand corner, click "Create gift voucher"


3. In here, the standard sale item creation options apply. First, give the gift voucher a name (for example, "£50 Gift Voucher"), a description if necessary and an image


4. Next, the price of the gift voucher can be set in the relevant currencies in the "Pricing" section


5. Under "Purchase Settings" on and off sale dates can be added to your gift vouchers


6. Finally, a "Custom sale badge" and a "Custom sale badge tooltip" can be added to the display of the Gift Voucher card on the shop (for example, "Most Popular!" to display which option is most popular amongst your customers):



7. Once all of the settings are configured, click "Save" and repeat the above process until all pricing tiers have been added



Gift Voucher Settings


Once your Gift Vouchers have been configured, they will automatically be available at "/gift-vouchers" on your shop site:



To customise this page, please do the following, along with some other settings:


1. In the left-hand menu, click "Ecommerce > Gift vouchers"


2. In the top right-hand corner, click "Gift voucher settings". Here you can adjust the following settings:


  • Enable browse page - This allows you to enable or disable the "/gift-vouchers" browse page on your shop site
  • Title - This allows you to change the heading on the gift vouchers browse page
  • Description - This allows you to customise the wording on the gift vouchers browse page
  • Image - This allows you to add an image to the gift vouchers browse page
  • Enable sale item modal upsell message - When enabled, All sale item modals will display an upsell message redirecting users to the gift voucher browse page



Gift Vouchers for Customers


When a customer purchases a gift voucher, they have the choice of either applying the balance to their account balance or the ability to transfer to the recipient.



Buying a gift voucher for themselves/redeeming gift vouchers


If the customer has purchased a gift voucher for themselves, they need to do the following to redeem it.


1. Visit the gift voucher browse page at "/gift-vouchers" and add a gift voucher to the basket and checkout


2. Once purchased, the customer will receive an email with the link to download their gift voucher


3. The voucher can also be downloaded by clicking the "Profile" icon in the top right-hand corner of the shop site, navigating to "My Purchased Items" and clicking "Download" on the gift voucher item:



4. Once downloaded, the QR code can be scanned to redeem the voucher, or the voucher code can be entered in the profile drop-down section of the site, under "Profile > Account overview", or in the checkout flow:

5. When clicking "Claim gift voucher" in any of the above locations, the customer will be prompted to enter the gift voucher code


6. Upon input of a valid code, the gift voucher value is credited to the customer's account balance



Transferring a gift voucher to someone else


A customer can transfer a gift voucher to a different recipient in two places on the shop site, which are:



Transferring in the checkout flow


To do this: 


1. Visit the gift voucher browse page at "/gift-vouchers" and add a gift voucher to the basket 


2. Complete checkout until reaching the "Sharing" step


3. In the "Sharing" section, click "Edit details" and toggle on "Transfer to another customer"  


4. After this, enter the name and email address of the intended recipient, and click "Continue":



5. Once the recipients' details have been entered, the payment can be made and the order finalised.


Upon payment, the gift voucher will sent directly to the intended recipient for them to claim.



Transferring via "Profile"


The customer can also transfer the gift voucher post-purchase via "Profile". To do so:


1. In the top right-hand corner of the shop site, click the "Profile" icon, and navigate to "Your Profile"


2. From here, click "Purchased Items" 


3. One the gift voucher item, click the drop-down next to the download button and click "Transfer":



4. After this, enter the name and email address of the intended recipient, and click "Continue". Alternatively, a URL can be generated and sent to the intended recipient for them to claim the gift voucher:


 


If entering the recipient's details, the gift voucher will sent directly to the intended recipient for them to claim.
